Who is the creator of Bored and Bookish?
Hello. My name is Liv. I am 23 and currently live in the Midwest of America, where goodbyes take 20 minutes, and there’s nothing to do but go to Walmart. I spent my formative years wanting to be a doctor, a pediatrician specifically and hoped to one day be able to make enough money to travel. I entered college with a major in Biology and quickly decided science was more of a hobby than a career for me. The pandemic changed my life in good ways and bad. The isolation drew me back into reading and eventually back to writing as well. I eventually decided to go back to school for English Language and Writing. During this time, I discovered a passion for teaching and will be travel teaching around the globe! I hope to use this platform as a way to post regular writing content and reviews, as well as provide a space for other new authors to do the same!
Why I started writing:
Growing up, my love for writing was apparent to everyone except me. I would create small stories, poems, and situations in my notebooks constantly, as young as 9. I would devour books in record time (8 hours of reading is more painful than you would think). My favorites were always fantasy books such as “Inkheart” by Cornelia Funke, and I especially loved “Eragon” by Christopher Paolini. Anything dragons, elves, or magic absolutely fascinated me. Despite that, I moved on to love science. When the pandemic started, I fell back in love with reading and writing fantasy, especially Romantasy! I mostly do it for fun now, with my primary focus being teaching. I would love to one day be published and share my writing.
Educational background
I am currently finishing my Bachelor’s degree in English Writing and Language at Southern New Hampshire University. Eventually, I plan to return to school and get some certificates in teaching and foreign language.
Why start a blog?
In this age, it can be challenging to get your writing out there. I started this blog initially as a school project. Quickly, it seemed like something I might want to keep up with regularly. I would like for this to be a safe and casual space for new authors to share their short stories, novels, or any other form of writing. It is so nerve-wracking to put something from the most intimate parts of your brain on display for others to critique and review. That is why the goal of Bored and Bookish is to provide a space to do so at your own pace. Ideally, it will also be a space to share opinions and theories on already published and well-known pieces. I want this space to be for the readers and the writers! Me personally, I want to use this blog as a way to keep myself writing, posting regular updates to my novel as well as reviews. I find it so tricky to keep myself motivated to keep writing pieces. I hope this becomes a way to help myself become more regular in my writing!
